World Affairs Council of the Monterey Bay Area Scholarship

The World Affairs Council of the Monterey Bay Area, Inc. is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization established to promote the presentation, discussion, and study of international affairs. The World Affairs Council of the Monterey Bay Area aims to make annual merit and need based scholarships to local students who have graduated from a Monterey County High School or/and a current high school senior. Candidates must be highly academic achievers and show interest in international affairs and/or related subjects. The scholarship is designed to supplement the cost of tuition and books and funds will be paid directly to the Financial Aid Office.

Scholarship Criteria:
1. The scholarship recipient must be a Monterey County High School graduate or currently enrolled senior.
• Preference will be given to students participating in the Academic World Quest sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Monterey Bay
• Consideration will also be given to World Affairs Council of Monterey Bay members

2. The scholarship recipient(s) should be chosen based on the applicant’s:
• Minimum GPA: 2.5
• Area of interest: field of study or career interest related to world affairs or international studies including the following majors: International Relations, Political Science, International Business, and Global Studies.

3. To claim the award funds, the winning student must:
• Enroll in an accredited school of higher education including:
1. Community college, associate degree
2. 4-year, bachelor’s degree
3. Graduate school
• As a full-time student
• by Fall semester after receiving the award
• Send the Claim Form provided by CFMC along with official proof of his or her enrollment to the Community Foundation.
