College Futures Monterey County Scholarship

Scholarships is open to all graduating seniors at the following high schools: Alisal High School, Gonzales High School, Greenfield High School, King City High School, North Monterey County High School, Seaside High School, Soledad High School, Everett Alvarez High School, Salinas High School, North Salinas High School, Marina or Rancho San Juan.

Amount: up to $4,000 for a 4-year university or $1,500 for 2-year college. This is a one year scholarship.

Criteria:

  • Financial Need
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or DREAM Act application, depending on your immigration status.
  • Applicants must have completed applications for at least two colleges or universities.
  • Applicants must be attending college with the goal of completing a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants may attend a community college, but must do so with the goal of transferring on time to a four-year college to complete a Bachelor’s degree.
  • To claim the scholarship, the student must enroll in college full-time.
  • To be considered for the scholarship applicants must complete a short test. Applicants are required to score 80% or higher to be considered for the College Futures Monterey County Scholarships. The test can be retake if needed.

Preference will be given to students who are low-income, first in their family to attend college, and/or from underrepresented populations.

  1. Thank you for your interest in a College Futures Scholarship. The goal of this scholarship program is to support low-income/first generation students achieve their educational goals. As part of the application process students are required to complete a short quiz to test your knowledge on financial aid and college readiness. Once you have submitted your application please reach out to Esther Figueroa at estherf@cfmco.org and let her know you have applied to the College Futures Scholarship. She will then send you a link to the quiz. This is an open-book internet searchable quiz. Please check this box showing you understand.

  3. Release of Confidential Information to Authorized Persons/Organizations: Please review the following statements and indicate your consent by clicking "I Agree" to each section. Agreement to these terms is a requirement of being considered for this scholarship.
    • Consent to the sharing of your information by CFMC with third parties: By signing and submitting this form, you authorize CFMC to share your Personal Information with the following third parties, who (as further explained below) either (1) perform similar research or services to those provided by CFMC, or (2) provide additional information to CFMC about you or other students generally or otherwise to assist CFMC in advancing knowledge about college going and completion in California: a) California State University Monterey Bay; b) Employees and third party services providers of CFMC and College Futures who help to administer and provide its services and programs, such as College Futures’ data management system providers who store and process information (including your Personal Information) on College Futures’ behalf. Employees and third-party services providers of the two Foundations have access to your Personal Information only for the purpose of performing services on their behalf; c) National Student Clearinghouse in order to verify your admission to, enrollment in and attendance at any college or university; d) Any higher education institution to which you are admitted for verification of your enrollment and access to information on your academic progress (including transcripts); e) Entities and government agencies responsible for administering financial aid programs, including the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC), so that CFMC can obtain information from those entities and agencies on your financial aid eligibility, financial aid you receive, and information on any higher education institution with respect to which you receive financial aid; f) Researchers, institutions and organizations which undertake research on strategies to increase access to and successful completion of college, and which have access to your Personal Information only for the purpose of performing research and are expressly obligated not to use your Personal Information for any other purpose and not to disclose your Personal Information to any third party. As such, although the research results may be made publicly available by these entities or by CFMC, the research results shared in these contexts will not contain or reveal your Personal Information and any information that could identify you will be removed or changed; and g) Administrative, law enforcement or government agencies to the extent required by law, or any order or requirement of a court or any such agency.
    • Consent to the sharing of your information with CFMC and College Futures: By signing and submitting this form, you authorize CFMC to share all information held by CFMC relating to you, including all information you provide in your scholarship application or program registration form including, but not limited to, personal information, such as your name, mailing address, email address and date of birth, high school attended and/or graduated from, information relating to any financial aid awarded to you, and your attendance at any higher education institution (together, your “Personal Information”), with CFMC and its partner, College Futures, for the purpose of monitoring the progress of students who receive scholarships and other services funded by CFMC and researching and evaluating supports for students to attend and complete college.
    • General. This form, and the authorizations contained herein, will remain in effect until you revoke it, which you may do at any time by contacting Michael Castro at the CFMC at 831.375.9712 x127. Any waiver, modification or amendment of this form will be effective only if acknowledged in writing by CFMC. Further, you understand that CFMC will maintain a record of this form, and that you are entitled to request and receive a copy. This form will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, excluding that body of law known as conflict of laws. If any provision of this form is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the other provisions will remain in full force and effect. Failure to enforce any provision of the form will not constitute a waiver of future enforcement of that or any other provision. This form may be executed in counterparts, each of which will be deemed an original, but all of which together will constitute one and the same instrument. Signed signature pages may be transmitted by electronic means, and any such signature shall have the same legal effect as an original.

Our scholarship funds are established by individuals, families, and businesses who recognize the value of education and want to extend a helping hand for upcoming college students. College Futures Foundation (“College Futures”) is a private not-for-profit foundation dedicated to increasing opportunities for students who are low-income and have had historically low college success rates by removing barriers to college degrees.
