Scholarship or Award Criteria:
The scholarship recipient(s) should be:
- African American and/or mixed ethnicity of Africa descent.
- A Descendant of enslavement. Applicants must be the descendant of an enslaved person in America. Documented evidence of ancestors’ enslavement is not required. Oral family history of ancestors’ enslavement is sufficient. Applicants will be asked to share what they know about their family history regarding enslavement.
- A resident and/or student anywhere in the Untied States
- US resident 18-30 years of age at the time award is granted; transfer and re-entry students are encouraged to apply
